| Madison Faculty Sponsor: Madison Chess Club Mission Statement: The Madison Middle SchoolChess Club is dedicated to providing opportunties for learning critical thinking skills, building self-esteem, developing spacial analysis skills,and improving academic achievement for any student who choosesto play chess at Madison.Description of Previous Activities: Students have socialized, watched, and/orplayed chess during lunch in the chess area of the cafeteria. They have played and been given chess instruction after school. They have played in the Albuquerque Scholastic Chess League, and in tournaments. Students haveparticipated in Community Nights and have done fund-raising. There are no mandatory activities and no mandatory fees.Planned Activities: There will be no chess during closed week (finals week). May 22, 2008<>2nd Sem. 2008 News:There will be a new chess sponsor for the 2008-09 school year.Come join the fun - all are welcome!
